I’d have thought we’d walk away
somehow on our own two feet
the skyline still in front of me
I’m crawling on my hands and knees

how silly this all must have seemed
my wasted breath turned into steam
now we’re safe and sound, and calm and clean
taken in by our enemies

slowly set my time to pass
they let you think it couldn’t last
now it’s back and forth, and push and pull
and for what, you ask?
I guess that I don’t know.
